Born and raised in Scotland, Art was one of my first loves. However, I took a more academic path at first, focusing on science and spending much of my twenties as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy. On leaving the Royal Navy I went back to my creative roots, initially working as a chef before returning to university to study a diploma in Art and then a BA in Textiles.
Textile thinking informs and shapes my work, and I love to play with alternative materials, combining these with traditional techniques. All of the photographs on this website were taken by me and feature my own work. My most recent work was created in the midst of a global pandemic, while preganant and and then a new mother. These experiences have influenced my work and form the inspiration behindĀ a number of my recent pieces.
At the core of my work is a fascination with light and shadow, and I seek out materials and processes that capture these elements. For me, light and shadow are symbiotic and there is true beauty to be found in the shadows.
At the moment, I live in Southern England with my Husband, 9 month old boy and dog, juggling new motherhood with finishing my Masters in Textiles and preparing for an imminent house move to North Wales.
